Helios Towers RDC manages an infrastructure of almost three thousand facilities, more than fifty of which are located in mining regions such as Tenke Fungurume Mining, Kisanfu Mining, Luilu, Sicomines, KICO Mining, Rwashi Mining, Kamoto, Kamoa and Kisenvere. Through this network, the company connects more than 39 million people, playing an important role in the development of the Congolese mining industry. The telecommunications infrastructure of Helios Towers RDC allows mining enterprises, often located in remote areas, to maintain communication both inside and outside the country.
Helios Towers RDC is deploying infrastructure for mining enterprises, providing critical communications and capabilities for automation, data analytics, real-time monitoring, and improved occupational safety. This connection improves logistics, control of operations, and compliance with ESG standards required by modern mining companies.
The company's activities go beyond telecommunications. Thanks to the indirect effect of Helios Towers RDC, more than 4,000 jobs have been created. The company continues to fund the development of local specialists and social initiatives, investing $1.25 million in training and capacity building.
At the ANAPI event, Meksan Bekangba, Regional Director and General Manager of Helios Towers RDC, spoke in a discussion session on the prospects and challenges of the telecommunications industry in the extractive sector. He noted that population growth, urbanization and communication needs require constant financing of digital networks. «Telecommunications are as important to the mining industry as electricity, transportation and water supply. Without reliable digital communications, it is impossible to ensure stable efficiency and competitiveness in the market», he stressed.
Since its launch in 2011, Helios Towers RDC has invested more than seven hundred million US dollars in the economy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and continues to actively contribute to the digital modernization of the country and the development of the mining industry. For the sustainable growth of the latter, it is necessary to expand access to environmentally friendly and stable energy, accelerate the construction of transport and logistics networks, and ensure reliable investment protection. These elements create the basis for maximizing the DRC's mineral resource potential, while creating sustainable value for the local population and the country's economy.
