The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is a regional economic community with 16 member states.

Tanzania takes an active part in the work of the Southern African Development Community. In particular, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of the United Republic of Tanzania, Mahmoud Tabit Kombo, is leading regional diplomacy in the field of peace, security and protection of citizens' interests within the community.

The agendas of the meetings of the Committee of Ministers of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) are formed taking into account the SADC Concept for 2050 and RISDP for 2020-2030, and decisions are developed according to the results.

SADC actively cooperates with non-member countries to achieve its goals.

For example, in May 2026, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Botswana A.V. Kemarsky met with Executive Secretary of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) E. Magosi.

During the conversation , the prospects of completing the work on the draft Action Plan for Cooperation between Russia and SADC with a view to its possible signing on the sidelines of the third Russia-Africa summit in October 2026 in Moscow were discussed in detail.
